The boutique stable of gun Gippsland Trainer Peter Gelagotis came to the fore on Derby Day weekend when on Friday night the promising Our Kryptonite broke his maiden status in a breath taking win at Moonee Valley giving his patient connections a long well over due win by a horse that has much more to offer.

Then on Saturday Gelagotis pulled the master stroke when gun sprinter Illustrious Lad landed the biggest race of his career and his jockey Anthony Darmanin to win the TAB Stakes G2 on Derby Day to give the Spring Carnival a dream start for the Moe conditioner.

"Illustrious Lad has been a stable sensation and I always believed he would win a big race however based on Saturday's performance it appears there is more in store for the up and coming star of the sprint ranks" said Gelagotis

If it wasnt a great weekend already Peter Gelagotis produced the win of the day at Mornington on Sunday when Bels Impact bolted in at her second start by winning a 1200m Maiden by 3 lengths hard held to give the stable 3 winners in 3 days to launch the assualt on the Flemington Spring Carnival where the remaining chance Malaguerra would be a leading contender in the Darley Classic which would take the stable to a different level if successful.

Gelagotis thanked all his staff and service providers including Darmanin who has formed a great strike rate going back many years and the combination looks set for more glory into the future.
