Bluegrass Bloodstock have found another quality Kiwi Bred stayer in The Willybe who saluted in style at Warrnambool on debut with Anthony Darmanin in the saddle. In his recent 2 trials the stayer showed a tremendous ability to sprint and has showed a good turn of foot and this was the case at The Bool where he led from start to finish to trounce his oppostion first up and as popular Western Districts race caller Ric McIntosh stated "WELCOME TO AUSTRALIA - THE WILLYBE" it was certainly a fitting call.
"It was very rewarding for our efforts to see this horse win for such a good ownership group made up of some existing local Victorian clients and a syndicate led up in Perth by new owners Peter Gangemi , former AFL great Peter Bell & the Micalizzi Family. Lenny Russo is doing a great job sourcing these quality horses and his judgement has been superb so a huge credit to him " said head trainer Peter Gelagotis
The Willybe will be given his chance to work through the distances and grades and he will be a city class stayer for sure based on his New Zealand form and the win tops off a very good period for the stable having 2 very impressive winners in 48 hours.
