gelagotis230Promising 3yo Shearer demonstrated his staying promise by destroying a good field at Morphettville last weekend to give Peter Gelagotis win number 20 for the season which is a career best for the Gippsland based conditioner. After a very solid run at Sale over an unsuitable journey of 1500m Shearer looked well placed over the 1950m against his own age group and showed his class to win strongly with leading based Adelaide rider Paul Gatt on board.

" We were very thrilled with this result for the connections as the horse was retained by the owners and in turn allowed some of our clients to get involved after we inspected the horse and I haven't hidden that I think he is a stayer of the future and told connections we will have a great time racing this horse so Adelaide was a great result which justified the stables opinion of Shearer . He loves the wet and gets over ground so he looks a winter time stayer of the future and if he improves a black type race won't be out of the question for him in my mind "  stated Peter Gelagotis

Shearer will have a light campaign throughout the balance of the racing season and will be turned out in due course and head towards the winter next season where the horse is expected to be at his prime and will be prepared for some good staying races.
