Courtesy of Neale Donnelley TVN 13/03/13. Moe trainer Peter Gelagotis is eagerly awaiting Friday night's Group 2 $220,000 Alister Clark Stakes (2040m) at Moonee Valley.
Gelagotis has quality three-year-old Hvasstan heading into the race third-up and ready to rumble.
"He's good, really good," Gelagotis told racingnetwork this afternoon.
Friday night's Group 2 contest has just seven acceptors with Hvasstan drawing perfectly in barrier three for Craig Newitt.
"There doesn't look to be much speed in the race so we can't afford to get too far back even in the small field," he said.
Hvasstan proved he was on-track with his last start closing fourth behind Ferlax in the Group 1 $500,000 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington two weeks ago.
"He's really come on from that.
"This will be his first race at Moonee Valley on Friday night – the first time he has seen the place, but I don't think it will bother him," Gelagotis said.
"What will be, will be – you can't always have everything the way you want it, but I don't think the track will bother him," he said.
Hvasstan has been marked second favourite for the Alister Clark Stakes at $3.20 behind the $2.80 favourite Philippi.
