Gun young apprentice Beau Mertens stole the show at Sandown recently riding his first city double which included highly regarded talent Mr Wonderful coming off a freshen up from his great win at Pakenham over 2000m.

Ridden pefectly on the speed over 1600m Mr Wonderful took over on the corner to kick away from his rivals to break the drought for the Gelagotis/Mertens combination that has in recent times had some frustrating seconds in the city.

"Mr Wonderful could be set long term for the Moe Cup and he looks a horse that will graduate and profile very well for this race and it was a greaty ride today by Beau, he really is a promising kid" Gelagotis said

It was great to see this promising son of High Chaparral finally starting to hit his straps and this win now has made it two in a row and by the way he won there is plenty more in store for this striking individual.
